Dr. Karen Gelmon is a Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and a Medical Oncologist at the BC Cancer. She chairs the UBC/BC Cancer Research Ethics Board and is an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
She was chair of the NCIC-CTG Breast and IND Executive Committees and a past member of the Breast International Executive Board (BIG), the North American Breast Cancer Group (NABCG) and the Susan G Komen Scientific Advisory Board as well as a Komen Scholar. She co chaired the Scientific Advisory Board of the Ontario Institute of Cancer Research (OICR). She currently sits on the Canadian Breast Cancer Network board.
Her expertise lies with clinical trials, offering patients access to the novel breast cancer treatments and developing knowledge in breast cancer prognosis as well as the development of other new drugs and studies in supportive care including exercise.
