Our laboratory focus is on molecular mechanisms, cell biology and novel therapeutics for mesenchymal neoplasia, particularly gastrointestinal stromal tumor and leiomyosarcoma. We have led international efforts to characterize GIST genomics, biology, and novel targets, and we have led correlative science studies to discover response and resistance mechanisms in GIST clinical trials. I have mentored more than 55 post-doctoral fellows as full-time lab members, most of whom are now productive, independently-funded, researchers – and many of whom are chairs or division chiefs – in Genetics, Oncology or Pathology departments. I am Chief Scientific Officer at SARC and am co-PI of the NCI SPORE program for "Genetics and genomics of leiomyosarcoma: Improved understanding of cancer biology and new approaches to diagnosis and treatment". Our research lab at Harvard has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow in sarcoma translational research: applications are particularly welcome from researchers who are keen to exapnd their expertise in intersections of sarcoma biology, high-throughput sudies, and novel therapeteutic strategies.
