Dr. Francesco Barretta is a senior statistician at the Epidemiology and Data Science Department, in Biostatistics for Clinical Research Unit at Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT) since 2016.
His main activities are held in close connection and cooperation with different medical doctors and researchers at INT and other national and international health care centers and research institutions. These activities include observational and randomized clinical trial protocol development, statistical consulting and analyses, manuscript writing and revision. In particular, he has several collaborations with pediatric oncologists, senologists, and sarcoma, melanoma, and colorectal surgeons. His area of greatest interest consists in the design of non-profit and non-pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials and in analysis of retrospectively collected clinical data aimed at improving clinical practice. He participates, between others, in SIOP Ependymoma II trial (EudraCT number: 2013-002766-39), ISG/AIEOP EW-1 Study (Eudract number: 2008-008361-35) and is member of the Trans-Atlantic RetroPeritoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG).
He is co-author of 75 publications on peer reviewed scientific journals including JAMA Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology, Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, JAMA Dermatology, Annals of Surgery, Haematologica, Neuro-Oncology, Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
