Dr. Joal Beane is a surgical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of melanoma and sarcoma. He received his medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine and completed fellowships in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James, he focuses his research on enhancing the efficacy of the adoptive transfer of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) for the treatment of metastatic solid tumors. He has also partnered with the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology to study immune response to cancer and develop cellular-based immunotherapies and gene therapies for treating metastatic melanoma and sarcoma. Additionally, Dr. Beane serves as an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University and as a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons.
