Professor
The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine
Dr. Robson trained in molecular biology & genetics (B.Sc., U of Guelph), biochemistry (PhD, U of Toronto/Sickkids), and developmental biology (postdoc, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) prior to establishing his developmental cellomics laboratory at the Genome Institute of Singapore (2002 – 2014). He joined The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in 2014, where he is professor and was the Director (until 2022) of the Single Cell Biology Laboratory. In Singapore his work focused on elucidating the regulatory networks of early embryonic development and in embryonic stem cells, in mouse and human. His interests in gaining a molecular understanding of cell fate decisions led to one of the first studies, in 2010, employing single cell gene expression technologies. Since then he has continued to apply such technologies to understand human and mouse biology. Current research interests include utilizing human pluripotent cells to model and study human peri-implantation biology with a focus on human/simian-specific features. His lab currently serves as a Tissue Mapping Center for the Human BioMolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP) and the Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet) Program and also serves as a Data Production Research and Development Center (DPC) for the recently established Molecular Phenotypes of Null Alleles in Cells (MorPhiC) Program of the NHGRI.
