Dr. Andrew Y. Koh is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology and Director of the Cellular ImmunoTherapeutics Program (CITP) at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health. Dr. Koh received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and then was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. He completed his medical training (including Pediatric Residency, a Chief Resident year, and dual fellowship in hematology/oncology and infectious diseases) at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Koh leads CITP which delivers state of the art clinical care in cellular and immunotherapy -- including stem cell transplant, CAR-T, and gene therapy. He also leads a robust basic/translational research program focused on understanding how the gut microbiome modulates the host immune response in cancer and stem cell transplant patients – specifically focusing on bacterial/fungal infections originating from the gut, graft-versus-host disease, and host anti-tumor response. Research is funded by the NIH, industry and foundations. Recent efforts have led to the formation of Aumenta Biosciences, whose lead product is a novel gut microbiota-derived therapy that enhances cancer immunotherapy efficacy developed in the Koh Lab.
