Dr. Cardona graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Florida, where she also completed a Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathology fellowship. In 2009 she started as faculty at Duke University, where she covers the GI, Liver and Bone and Soft Tissue clinical services and currently serves as Vice Chair and Director of Duke Health’s Anatomic Pathology Laboratories and Associate Medical Director of Duke Health Clinical Laboratories. Within her state, Dr. Cardona currently serves as the President elect of the NC Society of Pathologists. Within the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Dr. Cardona has served as the Chair of the Quality and Clinical Data Registry Committee, Vice Chair of the CAP’s Economic Affairs Committee, and a council member of Government and Professional Affairs and Informatic and Pathology Innovation. Additionally, Dr. Cardona completed her Master in business Administration (MBA) at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business in May of 2023. Most recently, Dr Cardona was elected to the CAP’s Board of Govenors.
