Juan Carlos Trujillo-Reyes has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) since 2009. He completed his specialized health training (FSE) in Thoracic Surgery at Hospital MutuaTerrassa in 2015.
He received his PhD degree from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona after the completion of his doctoral thesis at the Department of Surgery of the UAB, with the project title: " RESULTS OF MAXIMUM THORACOCHOSCOPIC THYMECTOMY AS A FIRST LINE OF TREATMENT IN PATIENTS WITH DIAGNOSIS OF MYASTENIA GRAVIS WITHOUT DIAGNOSIS OF KNOWN THERMAL INJURY".
He is currently Chief of the Thoracic Surgery Department of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona- UD Sant Pau.
His lines of work are focused on the diagnosis, staging and treatment of lung cancer, thymic tumors and sarcomas of the chest wall.
In June 2018 he becomes part of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), acting as Coordinator of the Thoracic Oncology Area.
During his coordination he initiates as co-coordinator with Dr. Luis Seijo the CASSANDRA project (Cancer Screening Smocking Cessation and Respiratory Assessment), currently considered as one of the pilot projects for lung cancer screening at national level.
In June 2022 he is elected coordinator of research and development projects in Thoracic Oncology of SEPAR.
Since 2017 he is the Principal Coordinator of the Spanish Registry of Thymic Tumors. Currently this group works together with the Thymic Domain of the IASLC.
He is the director of a master in thoracic oncology and professor in several masters and courses related to thoracic cavity tumors.
He has received competitive grants as principal investigator and has participated as principal investigator in different research projects both nationally and internationally.
