Graduate and PhD in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) (2006 and 2014), Master in Psycho-oncology (UCM) (2008). He began his teaching career at the UCM in 2013 as Associate Professor in the Department of Personality, Evaluation and Clinical Psychology of said university. She is a General Health Psychologist. Since 2007 he has been a psychologist at the Palliative Care Unit of the Virgen de la Poveda Hospital belonging to the Madrid Health Service. His main field of specialization is palliative care and psycho-oncology, he has dedicated his efforts to contrast clinical procedures, assessment of spiritual needs and management of specific symptoms such as insomnia. Specifically, in the last 10 years he has worked on three main lines of research:
Evaluation of symptoms in palliative care: focused on the search for tools for the evaluation of symptoms associated with the final phase of life, such as insomnia, attitudes towards death and specific communication and information needs.
Spiritual needs: focused on the evaluation of spiritual needs in patients in the final phase of life and healthcare personnel. Main objectives to determine and delimit this type of needs and the specific weight they have in the end-of-life situation for the control of symptoms.
Medically assisted death processes (PAM): implications for psychological intervention, determining the role of the psychology professional in this field, specific symptoms of applicants and their caregivers, relevant variables to improve care for people who request MAP or present DAM (advance death wishes).
