I am a physician-scientist, with a particular interest in the care of children with solid tumors. My reseearch focuses on pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma, which is the most common soft tissue sarcoma of childhood. Using a combination of patient-derived models and high-resolution transcriptomics, we have mapped heterogeneity of malignant cell types within rhabdomyosarcoma. Moreover, we have identified speicific cell types that are resistant to chemotherapy and capable of propagating rhabdomyosarcoma tumors in vivo. Moving forward, we are dissecting the underlying of these persistent cells, with an aim to identify thereapeutic interventions against these rare cells.
