Winette van der Graaf, with a PhD on circumvention of multidrug resistance in cancer, is head of the department of Medical Oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam and is Professor of Medical Oncology with a focus on AYA cancer and Sarcoma at ErasmusMC in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After her training and appointment as medical oncologist at the University Medical Center of Groningen, she moved to Nijmegen in 2007, where she was appointed as Professor of Translational Medical Oncology at Radboudumc and from 2010 was Head of Department until she moved to London, UK. From 2015-2018 she was Teamleader Clinical and Translational Sarcoma research at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK and honorary consultant in the sarcoma unit of The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. In 2018 she went back to the Netherlands and was appointed at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. She chairs the Dutch AYA ‘Young and Cancer’ Network. She is board member and 2023 Cancer Summit co-chair of the European Cancer Organisation (Brussels, 15/16 November). Since 2022 she is President of the EORTC.
