Head
National Cancer Center Hospital, Japan
I am a physician-scientist, with clinical training in musculoskeletal oncology as an orthopedic surgeon. As a surgeon, I have treated many sarcoma patients. In the process of treating patients with bone and soft tissue sarcoma, that is still one of the representative rare and intractable cancers, I recognized the importance of conquering this disease not only as a surgeon but also through research. Therefore, I carried out my graduate PhD work at The University of Tokyo and National Cancer Center (Tokyo, Japan) by focusing on comprehensive characterization of the sarcoma genome by NGS-based approach. My research interests are focused on identifying novel sarcoma-related genes, including potential therapeutic targets and biomarkers, with the aim of developing a sarcoma-based, personalized approach that includes diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. My training combined with my extensive clinical experience as an orthopedic oncologist places me in a unique position to contribute to improving the understanding and treatment of sarcoma.
