Associate Professor
University of Pittsburgh
My name is Giuseppe (Beppe) Intini and I am a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Dental Medicine, at the University of Pittsburgh. I am also an Associate Professor of Medicine (Division of Hematology/Oncology, secondary appointment) at the Medical School and the co-director of the Pittsburgh Center for Interdisciplinary Bone and Mineral Research.
I graduated with my DDS degree from the University of L' Aquila, in Italy. Subsequently, I obtained a residency certificate in Periodontology at the University at Buffalo, NY. After that, at the same University, I obtained a PhD in Oral Biology/Bone Tissue Engineering. I then moved to the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston where I stayed for 11 years, first as a postdoctoral fellow, then as an Instructor, and subsequently as an Assistant Professor. In 2018 I came to Pittsburgh, where I happily live and work.
As a clinician, I am involved with clinical and didactical education. As a scientist, I study bone biology and cancer biology (osteosarcoma). My research is currently funded by the NIH, by NASA, and by grants from other entities, including the Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma and the Osteosarcoma Institute. Recently, I also received funds from the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt Momentum Funds) to further develop the Pittsburgh Center for Interdisciplinary Bone and Mineral Research.
