I am a bioinformatician with seven-year experience in the analysis of high-throughput microarray and next-generation sequencing data. My passion for bioinformatics is driven by the fascination of how large genomic datasets can be mined using computational tools to extract information relevant for human health.
I have contributed with my expertise to many basic and translational cancer studies aimed at identifying prognostic and predictive biomarkers using «omics» and systems biology approaches. I got an extensive working knowledge in the analysis of large scale «omics» data, (microarray, RNA-Seq, Methylation, single-cell RNA-Seq), by using R/Bioconductor packages, MATLAB, and Linux-based tools, from raw processing (retrieve and clean) to the analysis, elaboration, and integration of different types of data from public repositories or on-line tools. My research focuses on computational genomic algorithms to functionally characterize coding and non-coding RNA in cancer biology, by applying unsupervised or supervised statistical methods to large scale datasets for class discovery, class comparison, class prediction, time series, and topological organization problems. My attitude towards continuous learning new methodologies and approaches as well as biological context gives me also a relevant knowledge of biology and genomics of cancers.
