Dr Vittorio Quagliuolo is Senior Consultant in the Dept. of Sarcoma, Melanoma and Rare Cancer surgery in Humanitas Cancer Center Milan, Italy.
His professional career started in 1979 at the National Cancer Institute in Milan in (under the teaching of prof Umberto Veronesi) where he acted at the Dept of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Surgery and Sarcoma Unit chaired at that time by his mentor prof Leandro Gennari
In 1988 he was awarded with “Salvatore Bannò Prize” for cancerology with a Monograph on “Locoregional treatment for neoplasms”.
He dedicated most of the clinical time in treatment of mesenchymal tumors, in particular he used to operate with conservative surgery
He has been one of the founding members and Executive Secretary of the President of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO 1982-1986), Collaborator of the European School of Oncology (ESO 1983-1986), Founding member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (EUSOMA)
From 1997 till nowadays, he carried out his clinical and scientific activity at Humanitas Research Hospital-Cancer Center in Milan, Italy.
From 2001 to 2010 he has been the Chief of the Sarcoma Unit and from 2011 he is the Director of the Dept of Sarcoma, Melanoma and Rare Cancer Surgery.
During this period of time he has been one of the founding members of the Italian sarcoma Group(ISG).
He is also member of the Trans Atlantic Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG).
His surgical expertise is particularly founded on the field of soft tissue sarcomas of limbs and retroperitoneum with more than thousands surgical resections.
In 2018 the Italian Society of Surgery asked to Vittorio Quagliuolo to edit a monography about the surgical treatment of retroperitoneal sarcomas. The monography has been edited and printed by Springer.
He is author/co-author of 130 original papers.
