Jacob is originally from Kansas City, KS prior to moving to Jacksonville, FL in middle school. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude. While at UF, he was awarded a university research grant for his thesis in biomechanics, served as student council president for the College of Health and Human Performance, and was inducted into the Florida Blue Key Leadership Honorary, Florida’s oldest and most prestigious leadership honor society. Jacob went on to complete medical school at the University of Central Florida, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. While in medical school, he pursued research in pediatric skeletal deformity, which has been published and presented nationally at conferences. Notably, between his first and second year, he completed a research fellowship with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins focusing on pediatric neuromuscular scoliosis. Following his third year, he was a team member on an international medical service trip to Yantalo, Peru, providing medical care to local communities. Outside of the hospital Jacob enjoys playing golf, going to the beach, attending sporting events, traveling, cooking, and skiing, and is a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs fan. He is proud to be training at the University of Miami and chose this program for its unrivaled resident/faculty camaraderie, autonomous surgical experience, global patient population, and the beautiful city of Miami.
