Romi Cencelj-Arnež, MD is currently working at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana as an attending surgical oncologist with expertise in the management of breast cancer, skin cancer and peripheral soft tissue sarcoma.
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana in 2008. In the final year of her studies she visited the Department of Plastic Surgery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery in Texas Heart Institute, USA. After graduation she worked as a junior doctor for 2 years at the Department of Plastic Surgery in the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, where she trained in reconstructive breast surgery, microsurgery and skin cancer management. Between the years 2010 and 2017 she trained as a general surgery resident at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. During residency she also worked as a central transplant coordinator for Slovenija Transplant and passed Module 1 for Transplant Coordination of European Board of Surgery Qualification in 2013. In the year 2017 she passed the board exam for general surgery with honours and joined the team at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana.
She is an active member of the Slovenian Society of Surgical Oncology and European Society of Surgical Oncology.
