Dr. Attila Kollár is a medical oncologist at the University Hospital Bern. He studied Medicine between 1995 and 2001 at the University of Fribourg and Bern and received his federal medical diploma and the MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland in 2001. In 2008 and 2010, he received the Board certificate in Internal Medicine FMH (Swiss Medical Association) and Board certificate in Medical Oncology FMH, respectively.
The Sarcoma Center of his home institution is one of the leading reference centers in Switzerland and an accepted EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment) Sarcoma Center involved in the feasibility evaluation and conduction of EORTC studies. In addition to co-leading the sarcoma center of his institution, he had the opportunity to expand his knowledge and experience in sarcoma during a clinical research fellowship and observership in well- known sarcoma centers such as the Royal Marsden Hospital and University College Hospital in London and Institute Gustave Roussy, Paris, France. He is member of the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK), the Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group of the EORTC, British Sarcoma Group (BSG), German Interdisciplinary Sarcoma Group (GISG) and European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Dr. Kollár has a lifetime professional dedication to patient care and research in soft tissue and bone sarcomas, including gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). His clinical practice focuses exclusively on these disease entities. Currently, he serves as the president of the SAKK Sarcoma Working Group (Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research). Dr. Kollár has authored several scientific publication and book chapters in the sarcoma field, including GIST.
