Trey Blazer is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery, Duke University Medical Center. He graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1999, received his training in general surgery at the University of Michigan from 1999-2006. During that time, he completed a 2-year research fellowship in surgical oncology at the Surgery Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. He went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2008. Since that time, he has been on the faculty at Duke University. He is currently the Chief of HPB Surgery and the Program Director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Duke. His clinical practice focuses primarily on the surgical management of soft tissue sarcoma, GI malignancies, and peritoneal surface malignancies. He is the principal investigator on industry-funded clinical trials and a co-investigator on a number of other national trials. He leads an active clinical research group at Duke, where residents, fellows, and faculty have opportunities to participate in institutional/multiinstitutional research projects, national database research, translational research, and clinical trial design.
