Jen Dorsey is currently a first year medical student at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada. She recently obtained a PhD from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto. During her graduate studies, Jen was in Dr. Rebecca Gladdy’s Lab. Jen completed her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University.
For her thesis work, she explored repurposing statins to treat UPS and LMS cell lines, as well as determining the in vivo efficacy and toxicity in xenograft STS murine models. This work has been presented at national and international conferences. Jen was also involved in correlative studies of a clinical trial evaluating hypoxia in extremity STS and worked on developing metastatic STS murine models. Additionally, she worked on many other projects in the lab, including one focused on better understanding adult RMS through genomic studies. Other lab duties included biobanking STS and creating patient derived cell lines to be used for current and future projects.
