James H. Flint, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic oncologist specializing in the surgical treatment of cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. His surgical expertise includes the treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcoma, metastatic disease, other benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, and arthroscopic & minimally-invasive management of benign tumors. He also specializes in osseointegration surgery, bringing this state-of-the art amputation technique to San Diego County.
Dr. Flint is an associate professor in the department of surgery at Uniformed Services University, and a voluntary assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is active in research to improve the care and outcomes of patients with sarcoma, as well as research and advocacy to prevent musculoskeletal injury in the military. He is passionate about raising awareness for sarcoma in San Diego and beyond, and is known for "going the extra mile" for his patients.
Dr. Flint is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He completed residency training in orthopedic surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. He earned his medical degree from Uniformed Services University.
