Associate Professor
Washington University in St. Louis / Siteman Cancer Center
I am an Associate Professor of Medicine (Division of Hematology and Oncology) at Washington University in St. Louis.
I have been the local principal investigator or co-principal investigator on several clinical trials treating patients with GI malignancies or solid tumors. Our clinical trials portfolio include phase 1, 2, 3 and cancer registry trials.
My research efforts are focused on biomarkers discovery and their incorporation in investigator-initiated trials, molecular profiling of solid tumors and their clinical applications, germline pharmacogenomics and the translational impact of exosomes. I work closely with our basic scientists on biomarker discovery in an effort to validate the preliminary and preclinical findings on patient’s specimen and eventually to bring those biomarkers to the clinic through investigator-initiated trials. I’m a member of the GI and sarcoma working group for CARIS life science and I have collaborated with national and international leaders on projects that included molecular profiling of different solid tumors
I have published several peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters on potentially promising biomarkers, molecular profiling of solid tumors, germline pharmacogenomics, exosomes, and on other hematology-oncology related topics in journals such as Pancreas, Pancreatology, Clinical Cancer Research, ESMO Open, British Journal of Cancer, and Scientific Reports. I have been the local principal investigator, co-principal investigator, or steering committee member for several national and international clinical trials covering gastrointestinal cancers and other solid cancers.
