Swiss Sarcoma Network
Luzern, Luzern, Switzerland
Prof. Bruno Fuchs, MD, PhD, is a sarcoma surgeon based in Switzerland. He commenced his medical education at the University of Zurich and underwent foundational orthopedic training at the Universities of Zurich and Bern. Prof. Fuchs was subsequently selected for the Ivins Orthopedic Oncology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA. Upon completing the fellowship, he earned a PhD in Molecular Tumor Biology from the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and was appointed as an Assistant Professor. Returning to Switzerland, Prof. Fuchs became a professor in sarcoma surgery and established a research program at his alma mater, with a specialized focus on the molecular mechanisms of osteosarcoma metastasis. Based at the University of Lucerne, he founded the Swiss Sarcoma Network. Collaborating with an international network of experts, he not only defined quality indicators for sarcoma care but also introduced benchmarking measures to elevate the standard of sarcoma treatment. This facilitates the development of a transdisciplinary, real-time sarcoma data warehouse, aiming to operationalize the concept of a 'Sarcoma Digital Twin'. The focus of this initiative is the application of predictive outcome analytics to achieve sarcoma precision care. In addition to his clinical and research endeavors, Prof. Fuchs is the founder of the Sarcoma Academy (www.sarcoma.academy), an international educational platform offering webinars on selected multidisciplinary topics and forums for comprehensive case discussions.
