Dr. Briercheck holds positions as a Physician in Medical Oncology at DFCI, an Associate Physician at BWH, and an Instructor in Medicine at HMS, with a specialization in Investigation.
His research has centered on the development and function of Natural Killer (NK) cells, with a current focus on using NK cells for cellular therapy applications. Earlier in his career, Dr. Briercheck studied regulators of cellular signaling within NK cells. He has also collaborated on projects exploring the mechanisms of NK cell lymphoma, notably in partnership with teams in Guatemala, where this disease has a significant incidence. Another key area of Dr. Briercheck's research pertains to low-cost diagnostics aimed at addressing the global cancer population's pathology service needs.
His findings have been published in journals such as Cell Reports, Journal of Immunology, Immunity, Blood, and Blood Advances. In addition to collaborative research, his work has been recognized by several trainee grants, including the Pelotonia Fellowship, the Fulbright Scholar Award, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award.
Dr. Briercheck is affiliated with the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. With ASCO, he's part of a working group addressing cancer therapy access, collaborating with various partners to enhance global access to cancer treatments. He's also involved with the non-profit Global Oncology, focusing on bridging the gap in cancer care through various initiatives.
