My research focuses on utilizing genomic and proteomic technologies to identify and validate new therapeutic approaches for improving treatment outcomes for pediatric solid tumors and to develop non-invasive biomarkers of treatment response and resistance in these diseases. In my laboratory, we explore pediatric solid tumor genomics through innovative utilization of next-generation sequencing technologies. We have developed new approaches to estimating circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) levels in patients with pediatric solid tumors. These assays allow us track ctDNA levels over time in patients and correlate levels with response to therapy and outcome. We will also use deep sequencing approaches and novel computational algorithms to study tumor evolution in serial liquid biopsy samples collected from patients who develop relapsed solid tumors.
