Dr. Hai-Feng Zhang is currently a Research Associate in Dr. Poul Sorensen’s laboratory at BC Cancer – University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Zhang’s research has mainly focused on the identification and characterization of key factors driving tumor cell aggressiveness, including cancer cell stemness, anoikis-resistance, metabolic plasticity, and metastatic capacity. Using various high-throughput omics analyses, Dr. Zhang has identified and defined the role of important miRNAs, oncogenic transcription factors, and a promising cell surface target for cancer immunotherapy. His research findings, including 11 first-author and 16 co-author papers, have been published in respected journals, such as Cancer Discovery, Science Advances, Trends in Cell Biol, Blood, Cancer Res, Clin Cancer Res, PNAS, Stem Cells, and Carcinogenesis. Dr. Zhang has served as a lead guest editor and initiated/co-initiated new research topics in journals such as Frontiers in Cell and Dev Biol, BioMed Research International, and Cancers.
