Dr.Hameed is an experienced sarcoma pathologist and an active member of the Sarcoma Disease Management Team at MSKCC.She collaborates with other members of the team, providing pathologic and molecular expertise to their research projects. She conducts research into the genetic alterations in tumors, currently focusing on rare/orphan neoplasms. She plays an active role in the training of fellow in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology and Oncologic Surgical Pathology fellows (12 per year) as they rotate through bone and soft tissue pathology. She has served as the Program Director for Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship, which is an ACGME-accredited fellowship program, and has extensive experience with the mentoring of fellows. IShe is the Co-Director of the Warren Alpert Foundation Center for Digital and Computational Pathology at MSKCC. She served as an elected member of the Education Committee for United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) and Meritorious Award Committee of the American Society of Investigative Pathology. She has reviewed grants for the Department of Defense peer-reviewed medical research program (2005 and 2006).She has been elected to serve as USCAP Board of Directors in 2022. She served as an associate editor of American Journal of Pathology and serve in the Editorial board of Modern Pathology. As a Program Member of the Cancer Center Support Grant, she participates in the Center's research activities as either an independent investigator, as a leader of one or more research governance committees, or as part of a research team.She is the Co-Director for the Warren Alpert Center for Digital and Computational Pathology. Through the center an infrastructure has been established for deep learning which includes a high-performance compute cluster with a solid foundation to foster collaborations among experimental and diagnostic pathologists, computer and imaging scientists and experts in deep learning and artificial intelligence.
