Margaret von Mehren, MD (she/her/hers)

Dr. von Mehren is a medical oncologist with expertise in Sarcoma and Gastrointestinal Stromal tumors. She earned her medical degree from the Albany Medical College, Albany, New York. She subsequently trained at New York University Medical Center in Internal Medicine prior to completing her fellowship in Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital.
Dr. von Mehren currently is Vice Chair, Department of Hematology/Oncology, Professor of Medical Oncology, Director of Sarcoma Oncology and Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She has participated in multiple clinical trials assessing therapeutic strategies for the management of GIST and Soft Tissue sarcomas; she most recently served on the scientific steering committees for the studies assessing avapritinib and regorafenib, approved for management of GIST. She has a long track record of collaboration with scientist at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Based on research performed at Fox Chase identifying IGF-1R as over-expressed in wild type GIST, she evaluated a novel agent targeting this receptor. She is also evaluating targeted therapies in liposarcoma and leiomyosarcoma.
