Hematology/Oncology Fellow
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
MIAMI, Florida, United States
My name is Priscila Barreto Coelho, and I am currently the current Hematology and Oncology Chief Fellow at the Jackson Memorial Hospital and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center within the University of Miami Health System. My focus on research and training are disparities and sarcoma, especially the molecular mechanisms driving this disease group and its disparities. I am passionate about the use of targeted therapies in cancer treatment. I am a member of the women’s cancer research working group in the African Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3) and the Sarcoma Interest Group (SIG) at the University of Miami. I have been involved in research demonstrating the disparities in the presentation and outcomes of breast cancer in the population of South Florida and the Caribbean (Breast Cancer Research and Treatment), as well as in our institution's GIST and Synovial Sarcoma populations (ASCO 2023). I have also published on the use of targeted therapies to treat specific types of sarcomas (JCO Precision Oncology and Cancers), the molecular landscape in angiosarcoma and synovial sarcoma (Cancers), as well as the role and utility of ctDNA in GISTs (ASCO and CTOS 2022).
