Laura was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She previously worked as a registered nurse for 7 years caring for leukemia, lymphoma, and medical onoclogy patients. Her experience is predominantly inpatient stem cell transplant nursing with some time spent working with medical oncology patients as a travel nurse. She joined Duensing lab in 2018 where she worked as a research assistant. Her main focus of research was on IDH-mutant chondrosarcoma and investigating the retinoic acid pathway as a potential therapeutic target. She is currently a second year medical student at Rocky Vista University with the intention to pursue internal medicine. Currently, Laura is a second year medical student at Rocky Vista University with the intent to pursue internal medicine. She continues to serve palliative and hospice patients on an as needed basis while pursuing her studies in medicine.
