Lab Manager
University of Pittsburgh
As the lab manager of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Lab (MOL) at the Univeristy of Pittsburgh, I am involved in almost every project in our lab. We are a true translational research lab with several ongoing wet lab and clinical projects. I received my Masters degree in Biology in 2012 and have been working in biomedical research ever since. I have investigated ways to imporve liver transplants, worked in environmental phylogenetics, studied rare subtypes of breast cancer and now attempt to discover treatment options to reduce metastatic burden in osteosarcoma patients. I also provide techinical help for other sarcoma projects in our lab. While I have studied many different research questions over my career, I find that discoveries in rare diseases are much more challenging, yet much more rewarding. Our PI has a saying "it's only rare until you're diagnosed with it". Our lab's mission is to increase our knowledge of metastatiac osteosarcoma to hopefully provide improved treatments to patients in the future. MOL believes our understanding of a disease and its effective treatments should not be limited due to the disesase's morbiditiy.
