Sylvie Bonvalot received her MD with surgical specialty in 1990 and graduated as PhD in 2006. She was Chief of the sarcoma surgery at Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France from 1997 to 2005 then joined Institut Curie, Paris in May 2015. Her clinical practice and research interests are focused on sarcoma and desmoids. She initiated STRASS 1, published in Lancet Oncol, and is Investigator or PI of National and International trials on desmoid and sarcoma. She has authored more than 270 scientific publications and is Editor for the sarcoma section of the European Journal of Surgical Oncology. She is a member of EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group and is one of the co-founder of TARPSWG. She served from 2005 to 2008 at the Board of Directors of the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), is a full Member of the National Academy of Surgery in France and is Professor of University of Paris Cité. She created and is Director of the Sarcoma National University diploma in France which becomes necessary to take on the sarcoma care in France, and participates to the International sarcoma course from ESSO on sarcoma.
