Dr. Heather Hayenga is an Associate Professor in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Texas at Dallas. She achieved her BS in 2005 from the University of California, Davis and PhD in 2011 from Texas A&M University, in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Hayenga then joined the University of Maryland as a postdoctoral fellow researching cellular biophysical phenomenon. To date, she has published 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the fields of sarcomas and biomechanics, has given over 80 conference and invited talks, and serves as a reviewer for many grant and journal organizations. After joining UT Dallas in 2013, Dr. Hayenga has developed a Vascular Mechanobiology Laboratory which 1) creates predictive growth and modeling tools of the vasculature, 2) investigates targeted treatments for solitary fibrous tumors, and 3) quantifies the mechanobiology of cancer and arterial cells.
