DaShaun Ragland is a first generation medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and a current research fellow at NYU Langone Department of Orthopedic Surgery the division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He was born in Evansville, IN, but grew up in the Detroit area. While obtaining a BS. in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Spanish from Grand Valley State University, he dedicated his free time to working with local underserved communities to help improve their quality of life along with studying abroad in Chillan, Chile. He is an active mentor to various underrepresented minority pre-medical students, and in his free time he enjoys traveling and taking care of his large collection of house plants. Upon matriculating to medical school he discovered a passion for finding solutions to adress healthcare disparities that persist throughout orthopedic surgery as a whole as well as the optimization of healthcare delivery for patients with soft tissue sarcomas.
