Thomas J. Scharschmidt, MD, FAOA, FACS, MBOE received his MD from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency at Summa Health System from 2003-2008. Dr. Scharschmidt completed a fellowship at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s in Musculoskeletal Oncology in 2009. In addition, he trained in Advanced Reconstruction and Tumors of the Spine at the Texas Back Institute in 2013. Dr. Scharschmidt is the Director, Center for Musculoskeletal Oncology and is the Director of the Pediatric Orthopedic Oncology Fellowship program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is a Professor in Orthopedics at The Ohio State University Medical Center, College of Medicine and The James Cancer Hospital.
Dr. Scharschmidt’ s clinical interests include bone and soft tissue sarcomas in adults and children, benign bone and soft tissue tumors in adults and children, complex limb reconstruction, advanced reconstruction options in the growing child, care of the oncologic amputee patient, and spine tumors.
