Dr. Gamez is an Assistant Professor and Senior Associate Consultant at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. He serves as the Senior Physician Executive of MyCareGorithm, LLC.
Dr. Gamez received his MD degree with Summa Cum Laude from Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP) in Mexico. His Radiation Oncology residency was completed at Mayo Clinic. While there he severed as the Chief Resident. Following his residency, Dr. Gamez did a fellowship in head and neck, skin and skull base malignancies, intraoperative radiation and brachytherapy at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.
Following his training, he joined the faculty at The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State he was the Associate Program Director of the Head and Neck/IORT fellowship program as well as the Institutional Leader of the Head and Neck Cancer Disease Team. He joined Mayo Clinic Rocheser in 2021. While there he has served as Assistant Professor and Senior Associate Consultant of the head and neck, skull base, skin malignancies division.
Dr. Gamez research is focused on head and neck, skull base and skin malignancies. His research efforts are also focussed on proton therapy, intraoperative radiation, re-irradiation, digital health and innovation, patient education, health equity and diversity as well as personalized medicine. He is an advocate and contribute in developing strategies to improve outcomes, decrease toxicities with the goal of organ preservation and improve quality of life.
