Clinical Research Coordinator
Fondazione per la ricerca sui tumori dell'apparato muscoloscheletrico e rari Onlus, Italy
I am a Biologist and Clinical Research Coordinator, with training and work experience in basic and clinical research gained in the specialty branch of Orthopaedic Oncology. I studied Biological Sciences at Sapienza University in Rome, continued with a master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Tor Vergata University in Rome, and then continued with a Ph.D. at Sapienza University in Immunology. At the same time as my Ph.D., I took the state licensing exam and joined the National Register of Biologists. Once I received my Ph.D., I attended the University Master's Program in "Management of Clinical Trials in Hematology and Oncology" at Tor Vergata University. Before becoming Clinical Research Coordinator, I spent about 10 years in academia and basic research laboratories. Once I finished my Ph.D. and decided that the path of basic research would not be in my future, I became interested in clinical research. I manage several aspects that invest Piedmont's oncology clinical research on numerous projects, including those of the physicians referred to the Foundation for Research on Musculoskeletal and Rare Cancers. First and foremost, I manage the database of histologies of patients taken care of by the sarcoma group of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley oncology network, which, while respecting the privacy of the patients themselves, is a useful starting point for the formulation of clinical research questions, and from which studies in the area of bone and soft part sarcomas are then developed. Accordingly, I manage clinical trials, overseeing their authorization process, coordinating their conduct in compliance with health data processing regulations, and verifying the correctness of all procedures. In addition, I follow the medical and technical aspects of the practices related to donations that the Foundation is making and will continue to make over time to help improve the patient care pathway.
