Data Manager
Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre, United Kingdom
I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) currently working as a data manager in cancer clinical trials. My main duties in the role includes: data collection and entry, data cleaning and queries, assisting preparing data for reports/analyses/presentations/publications, database testing, assisting with case report design, contributing to trial specific procedures, raising site queries, tracking/chasing biological samples, site payment tracking, quality assurance, producing trial newsletters, escalating and logging incidents, randomising/registering patients onto trials, assisting with set-up and closing down trials and implementing SOPs.
I have a particular interest in infection control, and published a paper on hand hygiene in veterinary practices in the Journal of Small Animal Practice in 2015. I also recently completed a Masters by Research, for which my project concerned the use of molecular biology in the diagnosis of joint infections in dogs.
My previous positions mainly comprised of multi-disciplinary referral veterinary nursing roles, with a particular interest in oncology and theatre nursing. I have extensive experience of lecturing and teaching practical skills in veterinary science and nursing topics, in further and higher education settings. In addition to molecular biology bench work, I also have experience working in microbiology laboratories.
