HS Clinical Professor
University of California, Irvine
I am an HS Clinical Professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center. As a physician-scientist with a focus on sarcomas and melanoma, I have extensive clinical experience in the treatment of bone and soft-tissue sarcomas and melanoma, the design and conduct of both phase 1 and sarcoma and melanoma-directed clinical trials, and the conduct of laboratory-based mechanistic studies in both drug development and sarcoma biology. I have successfully translated laboratory-based studies to the clinic in advanced sarcomas. Successful examples include: S0423: Phase 2 trial of pemetrexed for advanced chondrosarcomas, supported by the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG); NCT00233948: Nelfinavir mesylate in treating patients with recurrent, metastatic, or unresectable liposarcoma, supported by FDA R01 FD003006; and NCT01206140: Selumetinib with or without temsirolimus in patients with metastatic, recurrent, or locally advanced soft tissue sarcoma, supported by both the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Oncology Research Program and NCI NO1-CM-2011-00038. My bench-to-bedside insight in sarcomas and melanoma and vice versa accords me leverage into deficits of knowledge in the field of sarcoma biology, melanoma immunotherapy, and developmental therapeutics.
