Dr. Makoto Endo was appointed as a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Kyushu University, Japan, and also assigned as Vice Director of the Rare Cancer Center of Kyushu University Hospital. He obtained his medical degree from Kyushu University in 2000. He subsequently completed his clinical residency in musculoskeletal oncology at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo. He became a Japanese Orthopedic Association Certified Doctor of Orthopedics in 2009 and a Japanese Board of Cancer Therapy Certified Doctor of Therapy in 2010. He was awarded the Ph.D. in Medical Science by Kyushu University in 2011. In 2013, he completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Pathology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, focusing on global protein expression study of sarcomas using tissue microarrays. In 2015, he received an Incitement Award from the Japanese Cancer Association for exploratory research for prognostic factors and novel therapeutic targets in bone and soft tissue tumors. His research interests cover musculoskeletal oncology, including pathology, molecular biology, global gene and protein expression study, prognostic evaluation, drug therapy, and clinical trials.
