Shannon Austin is a doctoral candidate in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She received her BS in Sociology from Montana State University-Billings in 2001 and her MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014. Committed to public service, she has served on multiple service committees at Oregon State University and is actively involved in ongoing community service work through the Rotary Club of Tualatin, where she has been a member since 2012. Before returning to graduate school, Shannon spent 14 years working in the fitness industry, most recently as the founder, owner, and operator of her own fitness training facility. Having formally and informally studied individuals and groups in various sport and fitness settings, Shannon brings a unique perspective to her scholarly work, which focuses broadly on inclusive physical activity promotion for all people.
