Dr Lideke van der Steeg MD, PhD, MBA did her surgical residency in the Radboud UMC Nijmegen and the St Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg from 2000-2006. Her training in pediatric surgery was in Amsterdam.
In 2007 she received her PhD on her thesis ‘Quality of life in women with breast cancer: the influence of type of surgery and personality’. She continued working as a pediatric surgeon in Amsterdam until 2018. Since April 2018 she works as a pediatric surgeon in the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology, Utrecht, The Netherlands. Next to the clinical work she is responsible for the surgical research aimed at improvement of oncological surgery with the use of 3D techniques, machine learning, and fluorescence guided surgery.
