PhD student
Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milano, Italy
I am a third year PhD student and I have been interested in cancer research field since my pre-degree experience. Indeed, for my Biotechnology master degree internship at Tumor Biochemistry laboratory of Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, I investigated the efficacy of the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway inhibitor FR054 as a strategy to inhibit the growth of K-RAS mutated pancreatic cancer cell lines (PMID: 33670598). In October 2019 I joined as a fellow the Unit of Translational Immunology at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, a group with a long-standing experience in immunology studies focused on pathways of immunogenicity and immunosuppression in cancer patients. Here, I have been directly involved in research projects aimed at exploring anti-tumour immunity in sarcoma patients by the functional and phenotypic analysis of different blood immune cell subsets, and by immune-related transcriptomic analysis, in order to identify new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In October 2020 I started the Open University PhD program. The aim of my PhD project is to dissect the β-catenin driven immune features of desmoid tumors, both at tumor site and in peripheral blood.
