Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellow
Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Riley Hospital for Children
Dr. Amber Brown, DO, MS is a Board Certified Pediatrician, currently completing her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Brown completed medical school at Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA and as part of her medical school training also completed an osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) fellowship. She completed pediatric residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME, where her research focused on the incorporation of OMM into the care of pediatric patients with cancer or sickle cell disease. During her fellowship training, Dr. Brown has continued that work and is investigating the safety and feasibility of OMM in the care of acutely ill, hospitalized pediatric patients with cancer or sickle cell disease. Her research is also investigating the utility of OMM as a supportive care therapy for common chemotherapy side effects such as constipation, nausea, and neuropathy. Her additional clinical interests lie in high risk malignancies, and she will be spearheading a project aimed at early identification and intervention of sepsis and acute decompensation in hospitalized pediatric oncology patients. She is ultimately interested in pursuing a career in oncocritical care.
