Professor, Colon and Rectal Surgery

Dr. You is a Professor in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the Associate Medical Director of the Clinical Cancer Genetics Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She performs both open and minimally-invasive surgery and directs the Familial High-risk Gastrointestinal Cancer Clinic. She has a special interest in patients with hereditary cancer syndromes and young age-of-onset colorectal cancer.
She received her college degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Mayo Clinic, where she also completed her General Surgery Residency and Colorectal Surgery Fellowship. She holds a Masters Degree in Health Sciences from Duke University, where she was a T32 fellow in Clinical Surgical Oncology with the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG, now ALLIANCE). She is a member of the NCI Colon Cancer Task Force, and co-leads the education committee of the ALLIANCE for Clinical Trials in Oncology. She serves on the colorectal disease committees of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Track (SSAT), and the clinical practice guideline committee of the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons (ASCRS).
