Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist
Jim Pattison Children's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, Canada
I'm Dr. Bilal Marwa, a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital in Saskatoon, SK and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Saskatchewan. I have a subspecialty training in pediatric and adult sarcomas and in interest in precision oncology and in adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology.
My medical journey began at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I earned my medical degree. I furthered my education with a master's degree in experimental medicine at McGill University in Montreal, QC.
I completed my pediatrics training at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and then proceeded to obtain my pediatric hematology and oncology training at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. During my fellowship training, working alongside a team of national precision oncology researchers, I contributed as a first author to a paper published in JCO Precision Oncology and also conducted a study on palliative care integration in pediatric oncology patients.
To deepen my expertise in sarcomas and bridge the worlds of pediatric and adult oncology, I pursued a fellowship in sarcoma medical oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, AB. My currently research interests extend to challenging tumors like Ewing sarcoma and URCS, and I am deeply intrigued by collaborative clinical trials and the application of machine learning in sarcoma research, which has the potential to revolutionize our understanding and treatment of these conditions.
As a passionate advocate for collaboration in sarcoma research, I eagerly anticipate engaging with fellow enthusiasts at the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS) who share the goal of advancing this field. Through meaningful partnerships, I am committed to making a significant impact in the lives of young patients and their families, providing them with hope and healing.
I would love to connect!
