Surgical Oncologist
Buenos Aires British Hospital, Argentina
Since I started the General Surgery Residency program in 2013 I became interested in Surgical Oncology. Later, I felt that I wanted to have a deeper understanding and better surgical management of the pelvis so I decided to do firstly the Coloproctology Residency. Looking backwards I think it was a good decision since it contributed to continue my training from the technical point-of-view and to expand my knowledge about pelvic malignancies. At the end I had the opportunity to go to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney with Dr. Michael Solomon at the Pelvic Exenteration Unit to finish my training period.
Later, I finally started as a Senior surgeon in the Sarcoma and Melanoma Unit of the General Surgery Department. Since then I have been working specifically dedicated to these pathologies. From the moment I became resident of General Surgery to date, the Hospital has been increasing the volume of consultations and sarcoma surgeries. After a lot of work of my Chief Dr. Sergio Quildrian we created the Unit and I am proudly part of it.
My main interest is sarcoma surgery and also trying to improve and collaborate in the research field. Actually, I am doing the European School of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Surgery (ESSTSS). I have been at Institut Curie with Prof Sylvie Bonvalot and nowadays working at Istuto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano with Prof Marco Fiore and Alessandro Gronchi.
