Dr Salawu trained in Medical Oncology at the Weston Park Cancer Centre, Sheffield, United Kingdom and completed a fellowship in sarcoma and early phase drug development and at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto. Prior to this, he obtained Masters’ and Doctoral degrees from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, during which he studied structural and functional genomics of soft tissue sarcoma, disease models and biomarker development.
He is the recipient of a Novartis Oncology Young Canadian Investigator Award and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit and Young Investigator Awards. His current research interests are in translational oncology and biomarker development, clinical trials and ultra-rare sarcomas.
He is currently appointed as Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Toronto and Staff Medical Oncologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto.
