Surgical Oncologist
IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Italy
My name is Laura Samà and I am a 33-year-old Italian surgical oncologist. I am working in the Sarcoma, Melanoma, and Rare Tumors Surgery Unit, under Professor Ferdinando Cananzi, at the IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital in Rozzano, Milan. My clinical and surgical activities are focused on surgical oncology, especially on retroperitoneal, limb, and trunk soft tissue sarcomas; gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST); and complex abdominal tumors with multivisceral involvement. During my residency, I had the privilege to complete an internship at the Sarcoma Unit of the Marie Curie Institute in Paris, France, directed by Doctor Sylvie Bonvalot. Over the last year, I have collaborated with my colleagues on several multicentric studies proposed by the Transatlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG). I am a member of the Italian Sarcoma Group (ISG) and I have been involved in the latest meetings. I have a great dedication to work, and I am very determined to overcome novel challenges and unexpected obstacles with the objective of continual self-improvement.
