Group Leader
Precision Sarcoma Research Group, German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), Heidelberg, Germany
I am a molecular biologist by training and currently lead the Precision Sarcoma Research group at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. My mission is to better understand bone and soft tissue sarcoma by scientific inquiry to best realize the promise of effective personalized medicine for sarcoma patients. My team investigates critical processes in sarcoma genesis, including activated telomere maintenance, genomic instability and immune evasion by performing multi-level characterization of sarcoma tumor samples using systematic multi-omics approaches. Coupled with functional and mechanistic characterization and complemented with functional genomics screens, research projects in my lab aim to identify and validate new entry points for rational, molecular mechanism-based therapies for sarcomas.
